Grace Christian School Alumni Spotlight
Every month, we feature an alumnus of Grace Christian School in order to spotlight their accomplishments.  This month, we are celebrating Autum Monty, from the 8th-grade class of 2017!
Autum attended Mt. Whitney High School and attended the Health Sciences Academy there.  She played soccer all four years and earned team MVP 3 years in a row and All-American her senior year.  She graduated in 2021 and is currently in a BSN program (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) at Biola University.  She will graduate in May of 2026, after having done a preceptorship at the Children's Hospital of Orange County, on the neuroscience unit.
In addition to being very successful in nursing school and college soccer, Autum is looking forward to a future with her new fiancé, to whom she just got engaged in July!

We wish you the very best, Autum, as you continue to serve the Lord in your career and your future endeavors!  We are proud to call you a part of our past family here at Grace Christian School!

We are proud to feature Maverick Rauen as this month's "Alumni of the Month!" After graduating from Grace Christian 6th Grade in 2010 Maverick became very involved in the Arts and Sports programs at La Joya and El Diamante High School.  He did every musical possible during his time there, and ended up leading the show of "Catch Me if You Can" his senior year.  He attributes his love of theater to his roots here at Grace!  Maverick was also in the dance program every year, and became the first male to make the "In Motion" performance dance team, in addition to performing in several regional, western division, and national honor choirs all over the country.

In addition to the arts, he was a two sport athlete on the Waterpolo and Swim teams and graduated with a 4.0+ GPA.  And another fun random fact - he won the “Mr. Miner” pageant competition his senior year.

After
graduating in 2016, Maverick moved across the country to pursue music/performing arts at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was fortunate to perform in several productions during his time there - working with well-renowned teachers, directors, and choreographers in the industry.  He
graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater and a Minor in dance in 2020.

With this degree, he
moved to New York City to start auditioning professionally, and was cast in 2022 for his first cruise ship where he is one of the lead performers and the main male singer on board. He has been doing this for three years now and has managed to travel to 45 different countries and counting. He has also found a way to satisfy the athlete in him by training for, and competing in, the famous Spartan Obstacle Course Races around the USA.

Maverick
 is
very thankful to have started his love of performing and competing at Grace Christian School, and feels blessed to have had the opportunity to keep them prominent in his life.

Maverick, may you continue to SHINE for Jesus wherever you go!

Savannah Ramirez is so thankful for the years she was able to spend at Grace Christian School. She has cherished the many wonderful memories and the impact the teachers had on her life through each grade. They truly helped her lay a solid foundation academically and as an individual. She was one of two students that graduated from the 8th grade class in 2016.

After her years at Grace Christian, she attended University Preparatory High School (UPHS) on the COS campus. Attending a public school following an education at a small private school was certainly an adjustment. However, her time at Grace prepared her for success in high school and beyond. Being that UPHS is not a traditional high school, she enjoyed smaller class sizes, more rigorous academics and opportunities other high schools didn't offer. Savannah was very involved in music throughout high school and had the opportunity to be apart of the handbells and choir classes. She was also able to continue playing flute with the COS orchestra as well as the Kings County Symphony. Throughout high school, she continued to be involved in her home church and was very active in the youth group.

She graduated high school and began college in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. Concluding her years in high school and beginning her college years certainly looked different than she would have anticipated as a result. She began her attendance of The Master's University located in Santa Clarita in fall of 2020. Savannah chose to major in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy.

Her college years were a season of growth and she is so thankful for the opportunity she had to attend The Master's University and continually be surrounded by solid Christian teaching. It was certainly an academically challenging endeavor especially following a severe concussion she received in her freshman year that required me to retake many of my classes. However, she also found her college years to be a time where she got to try many new things and she thoroughly enjoyed the relationships she built with professors and students alike.

Throughout Savannah's time at The Master's University she was able to serve in a few leadership positions. She was selected to serve as a Resident Assistant in her junior year for homes that the University had recently purchased.

She had the opportunity to go on a short term missions trip through the school to a small settlement in the Northwest and Yukon Territories of Canada. It was a unique and greatly rewarding experience to assist local missionaries in the furtherance of the Gospel and to pour into their family. She also got to understand a different culture from her own and see how life is lived in the Arctic Circle. She also had the opportunity to travel through Turkey and Greece following Paul's missionary journeys for 2 weeks. That trip really helped her to read the New Testament of my Bible in a new light after seeing the actual locations of Scripture. She had planned to study abroad in Israel for the final semester in the spring of 2024. However, those plans quickly changed with the war that broke out in October of 2023. As a result, she chose to finish her remaining few classes online and returned to officially graduate in May of 2024.

Following graduation, she took some time to work for a local Physical therapy clinic and fixed up my parent's rental home that she now shares with a friend from church. Currently, she is taking some additional online classes for a graduate program. She is hoping to be accepted to a hybrid Occupational Therapy program and is hoping to begin this fall.

This month we are excited to feature Tyler Hays (GCS Class 2009)!  Tyler excelled while at Grace, and brought much talent to our musical/drama program!  At Redwood High School (Class of 2015), Tyler was able to experience several honor choir experiences at the local, regional, state, and national levels, and RHS honored him with an Achievement Award in 2015 for being selected for the National Honor Choir.  After graduating from high school, Tyler moved to La Mirada, CA, to pursue a Bachelor's of Music in Music Education at Biola University (Class of 2019). He enjoyed serving as the Choir President at Biola from 2017-2019, and just before graduation, he was offered the Middle School & High School Choir Director position at CVC in Visalia, which he humbly accepted and was able to move back closer to family. After serving in that role for two years, he and his wife felt God's call for them to move to Riverside, CA, so that he could pursue a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting (Class of 2023). By the grace of God, he graduated with honors and was offered a position in the Riverside Unified School District as a Choir Director at Arlington High School. Currently, he gets to serve his church and community in Riverside, along with his wife Eunice and his daughter Teagan.  They do this with great joy in their hearts, while following the Lord's leading wherever they go.

One fun fact is that Tyler's mom, Shannen Hays, blessed Grace as a 6th grade teacher of our students for a number of years.  Tyler says he's grateful for his time at Grace Christian School because it provided him with a vast foundation - educationally, spiritually (and for him, musically!).

Congratulations, Tyler, on all of your accomplishments. We are proud to have sent you out into the world, and thank you for making a difference there!

This month we celebrate Timothy "TJ" Andreas (GCS class of 2003)!  TJ attended Grace from Kindergarten through 6th grade, and excelled as a student, with Mrs. Prull, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Andreas, and Ms. Golden as his teachers. He also took piano lessons from Mrs. Neipp through Grace.

At Central Valley Christian High School, TJ ran on the cross-country team, and graduated with his best friend as co-valedictorians in 2009.  After high school, TJ studied Electrical Engineering at UC Davis and moved to Sacramento. For a couple years he worked for a medical technology company that manufactured low-cost disposable ventilators, which were very useful during the Covid pandemic.

Currently, TJ works for an aerospace company writing software for radar systems. Outside of work, he enjoys playing volleyball and helping out at the local animal shelter.
We are proud of you, TJ, and all of your accomplishments, as you seek to glorify Jesus!

This month we would like to highlight Gracie Richardson, who graduated from Grace in 2013. Gracie went on to immerse herself in many high school activities and clubs, including CSF, MECHA, and the Engineering Club where she was the treasurer.  She made honor roll every semester, and National Honor Choir, performing at the National Choral Conference in Utah in 2020.  During her free time, Gracie pursued other ambitious passions.  She organized a music therapy program where she visited local nursing homes and hospice centers to play the piano, led ice skating lessons, and competed in the ice skating USFSA National Showcase 2017, placing 4th.

At UC Santa Cruz, Gracie graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology.  She worked in nutritional research with UC Davis, and acted as a Peer Mentor with a community outreach program in Santa Cruz organizing and assisting local highschool students in community service such as beach cleanups, graffiti paint outs, Arana Gulch restoration, Estuary habitat rehab, and the watsonville wetlands restoration. Over the summer of her Sophomore year she worked in a pediatric clinic in Visalia, and decided to get a Masters Degree in nursing.

Gracie is currently attending Johns Hopkins University where she received a scholarship to the #1 Masters in Nursing program in the country. Her goal is to get her Doctorate of Nursing Practice.

We wish you the best, Gracie, as you go on to use your talents and abilities to help others!

Rebecca graduated from Grace Christian in 2018 after attending from Kindergarten through 8th grade. After graduation, she went on to University Preparatory High School where she received Principal's Honor Roll for all four years. She was also a very active student on campus and was the President of ACTS Club (a club to gather Christians on campus and share the love of Jesus), a leader on the Mock Trial team (which won the 2021 Tulare County Championship), a part of the school leadership team, and a member of the choir and handbells classes. Outside of school, she was the worship director for the Gateway Church High School Ministry, an AWANA leader, and an actor with Enchanted Playhouse Theater Company.

Being a part of the Mock Trial team and the youth group worship director were some of the most impactful things from that time. While she has wanted to go into law since third grade, being on the Mock Trial team gave her a glimpse at how the law works and gave me connections in the field. And being the worship director for her youth group was a really fun position where she got to build my singing skills, develop a better understanding of music performance, and develop her leadership skills.

Rebecca is now in her third and final year at California Lutheran University (She is graduating early thanks to the many COS classes she took in high school). She is double majoring in Political Science and Mathematics and have taken choir and vocal training classes every year. Rebecca still wants to pursue law, specifically appellate law, and she is currently applying to law schools for next fall. On campus, she is the President of the Pre-Law Society and a member of Delight Ministries, a club that essentially acts as a Christian women's small group.

This last spring, she had the experience of a lifetime studying "abroad" in Washington D.C. While there, she interned for the D.C. Attorney General's Office as part of the Mediation Section. Her job had many different aspects including answering the Consumer Hotline, resolving her own docket of cases, handing out flyers at community outreach events, and assisting attorneys with evidence discovery. While she was in D.C., she also took classes in the evenings on law and politics and went on field trips to different museums, landmarks, and neighborhoods through her program. Through her internship, classes, and field trips, she got an up close look at both the beauty and hardships of D.C. and one of the most rewarding parts of the experience was being able to help underserved communities.

Over the summer, Rebecca had two more incredible experiences. One was a three-day Model Constitutional Convention at ASU. It was the first convention of its kind and the goal was to show that her generation wants constitutional reform and it is possible to find consensus on these issues. The second was spending a majority of my summer as a research assistant through USC's Jumpstart program. She studied Data Analysis there and, at the end of summer, presented my findings on racial disparities in the jury summoning process.

She is now in her final two semesters at Cal Lutheran and loving her time there. This semester she is staying busy, as usual, with classes, a final project for her Math major, starting a Moot Court team, applying to law schools, working as a private tutor, and volunteering at her church on Sunday mornings. Despite the craziness, she always makes it through thanks to the comfort that Jesus is Lord of my life, something she learned very early on at Grace.
